My Cousins and Snow

Well well well, I must say...yesterday was my first time EVER that I have seen, feel, touch, taste, smell and pissed...*First rule of snow: DON'T EAT YELLOW SNOW

My uncle (Karl), my four cousins, Francois and myself went to the top of this one mountain (Kreuzberg) to check if anything has happened since last winter. Low and behold! SNOW. Beautiful white fluffy stuff that falls out of the sky on a very regular basis. With all the excitement...I got out of the car and looked up, finding the fluffy stuff slowly floating down and landing on my face...I only realized halfway into my euphoria that the wind was blowing the snow off the trees and onto my face!!

So we ran around like weird ppl and threw snowballs and rolled snow and tasted and...you know the drill.

Today I finally arrived in Bruchsal, after driving a maximum of about 237Km/H on the Autobahn in my Uncle's new 2006 Audi TT 2.0...absolutely B-E-E-EAUTIFUL! Check it out at http://www.audiworld.com/news/06/r8-design-miami/

I will take pictures of the Varsity asap and send them along or post them here.

For now...I'm tired and tomorrow I have to convince the german foreign embassy that I am not a criminal from SA looking to come live off the land like a peasant...

Cheers vir eers

Frankfurt am Main - A new experience

Hi to all my friends and family!

Where to start? Well, we got here (frankfurt) on the morning of 30 december 2006...at freakin 6am. Like a lost fart in a big building, we didn´t exactly know where to go or what to do! At least I have the language barrier covered...Francois sukkel sy gat af!

So, our first order of business was to get hold of a telephone card to let the family know that we are alright, needless to say they were all sold out. Now, to buy the train ticket and get to the Haus der Jugend (where we are staying for 3 nights)...

Get to the accommodation via a train and then bus (must say, working, safe public transport is bliss!). €60 later and we have a nice warm sleeping ´place´...with a squeeking door that never stops opening and closing...add a weird dude from Poland who wear pink (and not just subtle ping...shocking, neon-pink) slops!

We basically used our good old feet to cover most of the city in the first 2 days...not THAT big...johannesburg has a bigger skyline! The city is beautiful and vibrant and very safe! Oh yeah, did I mention how absolutely beautiful...no...stunning all the ppl here are? I guess thousands of years of breeding does get rid of most bad genes..hehe.

It wasn´t long before we discovered a nice club to party away at for new years eve! Lots of fun, and more cash than I have ever spent for one night out.

Waitress: Sir, would you like something to drink?
Me: Sure, could you bring me a Becks?
Waitress: We don´t have that.
Me:Alright...a vodka and soda water.
...
waiting...
waiting...
bathroom...
waiting...
...
Waitress: Here you go sir, that will be €8 please
Me: WHAT!?! (That´s right...R73 for a freaking vodka and soda...which was horrible!)

At 12am (your 1 am) the whole sky lit with fireworks...ppl were running around screaming, shouting obscene german somethings! It was awesome to say the least, the hooters were going, the church bells rAng for about 20 min...even the busses and taxis were honking etc. Lots of noise...and a new year.

Round about 4am, we decided to venture back to our pad...it was raining, we were wet, very very wet! I guess we could of taken taxi, but after the drink incident, I thought "bugger it"...I needed to eat the next day. Once again...this place is extremely expensive compared to SA.

Today, well, today we woke up at about 4pm...the sun was already setting. Now, I´m in this internet cafe typing...

So far, I´m enjoying every moment...it´s truly an eye opener. This morning I did however realize that I do not have a medical aid anymore...my bank account is moaning and I have about €50 left...hehe...great!

Gonna love and leave you know...the guy at the counter is frowing at me...in a weird way! Tomorrow morning we are off to Wuertzburg to go visit my uncle for the next 2 days and then on the 4th, we are moving into residence...and then my student life starts once more.

I will keep all of you updated if and when and as much as I can, will also send photo´s as soon as I get myself hooked up with a laptop...

See ya
